Polyoxyethylene lauryl ether is a nonionic surfactant that has polar groups in the form of polyoxyethylene separated by polyethylene chains. Its molecular structure includes a single chain of polyethylene glycol (PEG). It is slightly soluble in water and hydrophobic.
