Trichloroethylene is a commonly used solvent in industry. It is colorless, toxic, transparent, easy to flow, not burning, volatile, with aromatic liquid, the nerves have anesthetic effect. The decomposition of pure trichloroethylene is slow. When there is ultraviolet radiation in the mixture of trichloroethylene and oxygen, the decomposition of trichloroethylene is accelerated. Trichloroethylene is mainly used as a dry cleaning agent for metal degreasing and wool and fabric. Solvents for resins, bitumen, coal tar, cellulose acetate, nitrocellulose, rubber and coatings. Used as an anesthetic in medicine and as a feedstock for the synthesis of chloroacetic acid.
