Dehydrogenation of acetic acid (acetic acid, referred to as Dhaa or DHA) is a commonly used preservative and is a derivative of pyrrole. Dehydrogenation of acetic acid to water solubility is small, its salt dehydrogenation sodium acetate to water solubility is large, so the latter is often used as a preservative. In industry, dehydrogenation of acetic acid is often used as a plasticizing agent for synthetic fibres.
